Continuing from where the first film left off, Wing Chun master Ip Man and his family move to Hong Kong in the early 1950s after their escape from the Japanese. Ip Man decides to open a school to teach Wing Chun and propagate the martial art, as well as make his living.

This movie is a fantasy and if you knew the real story, you’d be shocked because many died to keep the secret of Wing Chun as that, a secret. To teach Wing Chun was to also ask for death. Many who were found out by the Military and Dynasty of Machu would find the person who taught it. Then they’d kill this master and 9 generations down. Meaning children, family, wife, the lot. It is more comforting to believe in fantasy without studying the historical facts. There is no historical facts, documents, about that woman. If you look at IP man too, there is slightly some hidden message about the political climate and fear from the dynasty and system. Great movie though it’s a little bit turned to a fantasy.
